About
Formed in 1996, initially as Tavistock Jets and after 2003 under our current name, Tavistock Town FC is an FA charter standard youth football club, helping children from 5 – 16 to play football locally. Under 6’s, 7’s and 8’s do not play competitive matches, but train weekly as our qualified coaches help these energetic and keen young players develop their abilities. These squads do play occasional friendlies, and the under 8’s will enter summer tournaments ahead of entering the league at under 9.
Under 9’s and 10’s play seven a side “ mini soccer “ on a smaller pitch. This has been developed by the FA to give young players a much better feel for the game. It increases the level of involvement in the game for all players, and has been shown to be beneficial in young players development. Under 11’s and above play eleven a side matches, with increasing pitch sizes as the players get older. Tavistock Town teams play in the Devon Junior and Minor league, competing in league and cup competitions each season. You can get further information on individual teams by going to the teams page elsewhere on this site.
Tavistock Town FC takes the development and protection of all children at the club seriously. As a charter standard club, all of our coaches are FA qualified and have undergone child protection education and first aid training. Every person involved with the players and teams undergo an enhanced CRB check and the club has a named, dedicated, welfare officer. The club invests in our coaches as a way of ensuring the further development of our players and their teams. All the clubs officials, coaches and assistants are volunteers and we welcome anyone connected with a player who wishes to contribute towards the clubs continuing success.
